I picked up the Luxury Olive Wood Burl Backgammon set from Manopoulos as a Christmas gift for my husband. It showed up quickly, and I just unwrapped it to get it ready for Christmas Day. I was truly amazed - it’s incredibly gorgeous! The video showcasing its creation really convinced me to go with this set, and the service from the Regency Chess Company was top-notch from beginning to end. I wouldn’t think twice about using them again.

I recently picked up the Frankfurt Grand Black Chess Set, which includes a 7.5" travel chess set and checkers pieces all in a nice presentation box. I just got my hands on the luxury compartment chess piece case made of Root Wood Burl. It looks just like the pictures online and feels solid and well-crafted. Overall, it’s a beautiful piece.

However... it’s massive. Looking back, I realize I missed the dimensions that were listed. Plus, it’s really heavy, just like they said.

I might send it back, not because there’s anything wrong with it, but because I was a bit foolish to buy it after only glancing at the image without checking the size.

Or maybe I could just build an extension to my house to keep it.

If I choose to hang onto it, I’ll need to add a proper handle since its size and weight make it a bit of a hassle to carry. If I do end up returning it, I’ll just grab one of their smaller options. But either way, it’s a lovely item.

I got myself a 23.6 inch Dark Walnut chess board that showed up in just two days. I felt compelled to share my thoughts because I was truly amazed by the quality of this board; it’s absolutely MAGNIFICENT! Honestly, the image on the RC website doesn’t do it any justice. At first, I was eyeing the lighter Elm Burl and briarwood board, but it was out of stock. Now, I’m really thankful it was, because in my opinion, the board I ended up with is simply unmatched.

I just got my hands on the Manopoulos Grey and Beige Ostrich Backgammon Set, and it showed up today. Let me tell ya, the board is just amazing, and I’m super pleased with what I bought. Both the board and the pieces are made really well. The grey shade is a tad darker than what I saw in the photos, but it looks awesome. Plus, the price was great and the shipping was quick. Much appreciated!

I just got my hands on the Isle Of Lewis Chessmen 3.25" from National Museums Scotland along with the 19.7 Inch Walnut and Maple Chess Board. They make a fantastic pair and really look sharp. Thanks a bunch!

I got myself a 16-inch Staunton Style tournament board. The site had it listed at £130 but it was on sale for £75, so I figured it must be pretty good for that price. It showed up this morning, nicely packaged, but I was really let down by the quality once I opened it. Honestly, I should've just spent £20 on Amazon, 'cause that's about all it's worth. They sent me two black kings and no white ones. The entire set looked and felt cheap—definitely not worth £75, much less the £130 they claim on the website. At least returning it for a full refund is easy, so I’m not too bummed out, just disappointed. Once I get my money back, I’ll look for something similar but way cheaper. Cheers, Mark
